Bridge Nine Signs Hardcore Band R.A.

R.A. the straightforward, no-frills hardcore band from Merrimack Valley, Massachusetts, formed in the summer of 2011 is excited to call Bridge Nine their new home and even more excited to be releasing their first full-length album on the label this summer.

R.A. vocalist Josh Hynes commented, “I was first introduced to Bridge Nine as a kid, right when the label started in the late 90’s, and remember picking up the Proclamation 7″ and being hooked right away. It was awesome being able to see the label grow from an underdog label into what it has become today. Throughout the past sixteen years, B9 has put out some of my favorite releases so it is a real humbling experience signing to a label that I was brought up on. As with most labels, it has grown and branched out, but still remains very much a part of the hardcore scene which it was founded on and we as a band couldn’t be happier being here.”

    Mistaken For Strangers

Hailed by Michael Moore as “one of the best documentaries about a band that I’ve ever seen” and by Pitchfork as “the funniest, most meta music movie since SPINAL TAP,” MISTAKEN FOR STRANGERS is a truly hilarious and touching film about two brothers, Matt and Tom Berninger. Matt, the lead singer of the critically acclaimed rock band The National, finally finds himself flush with success. His younger brother Tom is a loveable slacker – a filmmaker and metal-head still living with his parents in Cincinnati. On the eve of The National’s biggest tour to date, Matt invites Tom to work for the band as a roadie, unaware of Tom’s plan to film the entire adventure. What starts as a rock documentary quickly becomes a crowd-pleasing journey about family, ambition, and the creative process.

The film will make its theatrical premiere on March 25, 2014 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.  The gala event wouldn’t be complete without a performance from The National, so they will be on hand to celebrate with a full concert. Tickets to the March 25 Shrine Auditorium show are available here:http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/09004B900CD19E75

Mistaken for Strangers will be available in select theaters, on demand and on iTunes March 28.

    Fear of Men – “Alta/Waterfall”

    LISTEN TO “ALTA/WATERFALL” HERE

UK’s Fear of Men, have shared “Alta/Waterfall”, the opening track(s) from their much anticipated debut album, Loom. Gorilla vs Bear has said that “the chills are inescapable as the lovely/very eerie “Alta” swells into the wistful, dreamily melodic guitar pop of “Waterfall”, and it’s all a pretty flawless and heartbreaking intro to one of our most anticipated records of 2014.” and Stereogum has said “[“Alta” is] a ghostly and bare 50-second intro that seamlessly builds and resolves into “Waterfall” – a track packed with melodic guitar riffs, steady drum beats, and whimsical lyrics.”

A limited, deluxe two-colored vinyl edition of “Loom” will be released by Kanine Records on Record Store Day. The digital and CD release will follow April 21, 2014 in the UK and April 22, 2014 in the US.

    ABOUT FEAR OF MEN:

“We are always in the evening,” Jessica Weiss sang on early demo “Doldrums,” a three-minute work of catchy but haunted pop by U.K. indie quartet Fear of Men. This slight lyric, while almost evasive in its ambiguity, managed to set the tone perfectly for the group’s unique approach, equal parts understated pop hooks, 4AD styled shrouds of mystery, and art school existential pondering.

The band was born when Weiss’ ambient short film soundtracks caught the attention of Daniel Falvey at an exhibition of her work. The two arts students found common musical ground through swapping mixtapes and started working under the Fear of Men title toward a more pop focused sound. (more…)
