Upcoming Event – WANTEDDesign 2014
WANTEDDesign, the inspirational and energetic platform for the design community, students, the media, design institutions, and design lovers alike, takes place May 16th-19th in NYC.
Adding fresh direction to this year’s show, programs will follow the daily themes of Design Around the World, Designing, Making, Transforming, and What’s Next in the U.S.A.?, with each day featuring supporting conversations.
Beyond the talks, set to take place in Grimshaw’s Conversation Room, and the show’s nearly 60+ exhibitors, attendees can preview prototype products in the Launch Pad and check out the visionary outcomes from the Design Schools Workskhop – “The Future of Paper”– that includes participating schools from around the world.
Part of NYCxDESIGN, WANTEDDesign will officially open on Friday, May 16th, to press, bloggers, interior designers, and VIPs. All programs take place during the three days from May 17th to May 19th at the Terminal Stores – The Tunnel, 269 11th Avenue, between 27th and 28th streets in New York City.
The event is free to the trade (registration required); general public ($20 online, $25 at the door).

The Kartell by Laufen Collection was presented this past December during Design Miami at the Kartell Miami flagship store. After its launch in Frankfurt (ISH) and the Milan Design Week last year, this innovative project has been presented around the world .
Helmed by the super-power architect and design team, Ludovica + Roberto Palomba (who was in attendance) this award winning collection created a new dialogue as pointed out in the collection description:
The new Kartell by Laufen bathroom is a complete and integrated project inspired by the iconic design of Kartell, combined with the quality of Laufen in the production of ceramics for the bathroom, designed by the International renowned designers Ludovica+Roberto Palomba. On one hand Kartell, Italian, creative, colourful, ironic. On the other Laufen, Swiss, rigorous, reliable. From this union and with the interpretative project work of Ludovica+Roberto Palomba there comes about an unprecedented collection, which takes its place on the market as an aspirational project with great persuasive capacity. A liveable dream, with sophisticated yet affordable aesthetics, chic yet understated.

WALLPAPER* DESIGN AWARDS 2014
The Wallpaper* Design Awards 2014 winners have been announced and they include the people, places, creations and concepts that have intrigued people for the past year.
This year’s judges panel included: Victoria Beckham, Michael Chow, Ron Gilad, Spike Jonze, Thom Mayne and Thaddaeus Ropac.
After seeing these preview pages, shown below, I can’t wait to get this spectacular issue !
