Alan Rath, Again

Alan Rath’s Again exists as a set of disembodied robotic arms, acting out a blur of anthropomorphic choreography. Rath, an M.I.T.-educated engineer and artist, wrote the algorithms that animate his works to be open-ended, modifying their own moves, and infusing them with uncannily life-like characteristics. The resulting sculptures are a reflection on the evolution of technology and the increasingly murky distinction between the living and non-living.
