The Power of Creation: Dom Pérignon
This year Dom Pérignon, always a vintage champagne, announced its exclusive new Power of Creation collaboration with Haute Couture Designer and guest member of the prestigious Parisian Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, Iris van Herpen. The limited edition collaboration is inspired by metamorphosis: signifying the closure of one period and the birth of another, and a powerful symbol of evolution, transformation and renaissance.

Dom Pérignon has long collaborated with some of the greatest creators of their time within art, fashion and design. The Power of Creation is inspired by a mutual goal to push the boundaries of their art, exploring new territory and reinventing the language of their discipline without betraying it.

Previous Power of Creation partnerships include limited editions with Jeff Koons and David Lynch, a collection designed with Marc Newson, an homage to Andy Warhol, a collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld and creative projects withRobert Wilson, Lang Lang, John Legend and Alexandre Desplat.

    Dom Pérignon:
Dom Pierre Pérignon was the procurator of the Abbey of Hautvillers in Champagne from 1668 to 1715. His life’s work was guided by the single aim to create what he named: the “best wine in the world”. Today, each new vintage of Dom Pérignon is inspired by the same quest. For every vintage is a new beginning, a reinvention. Always a vintage wine, the Dom Pérignon commitment to vintages is absolute: Dom Pérignon is made from only the best grapes and is declared only in the most exceptional years, from a single year’s harvest only. Each Vintage has three Plénitudes, and is a true act of creation that is constantly renewed by Chef de Cave Richard Geoffroy. www.domperignon.com

Dom Pérignon Limited Edition by Iris van Herpen:
Iris van Herpen, guest member of the prestigious Parisian Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, is an award-winning Dutch fashion designer and couturier renowned for her futuristic, darkly fantastical aesthetic. In 2014 she was the recipient of the coveted ANDAM Fashion Award.

Dom Pérignon Metamorphosis by Iris van Herpen also marks the end of Dom Pérignon Vintage 2004 as we know it in its first Plénitude and celebrates its pending metamorphosis into P2, or Second Plénitude of Dom Pérignon. All that we know may disappear for a time, but it will rise again – transformed and reinvented.  Van Herpen has designed two limited edition bottles and gift boxes, for the Dom Pérignon Vintage Blanc 2004 and 2003 Rosé respectively.

The Dom Pérignon Limited Edition by Iris van Herpen is available at fine wine purveyors in America.

  • BENTLEY ELEMENTS DEBUTS AT DESIGN MIAMI 2014

BENTLEY ELEMENTS DEBUTS AT DESIGN MIAMI 2014

    Exhibition Dates: 1 to 4 December 2014
Location: 25 NE 39th Street, Miami Design District
Bentley presents Bentley Elements, a new series of art and design commissions conceived by creative directors Campbell-Rey debuting at Design Miami, 1–4 December 2014.

As their press release about this innovative installation states:

Each iteration of Bentley Elements will see an original commission from a craftsperson or artist representing a variety of disciplines including art, design and technology whose individual practices and techniques celebrate the diverse aspects of the Bentley brand. Taking a three-pronged approach, Bentley Elements bridges the physical and abstract elements of the car’s construction with the institutional values of the brand and the elemental features of the natural landscape that the car inhabits. The finished artworks will then be unveiled at cultural happenings around the globe with a new element and artist commission added annually.

The first installment in the series celebrates the element of Light, as interpreted by artist Massimo Uberti, an Italian conceptual artist based in Milan, renowned for his sculptural light installations whose striking geometric structures suggest gravity and reality-defying 3D forms.

It’s only here for a short time, so make sure to see this before the exhibit closes!

Bentley Motors is a company at the pinnacle of British handmade performance; a marque with a storied history and a stridently modern outlook. The ultimate pairing of craftsmanship and technology, each Bentley is a driver’s car with a resolutely human touch. Exuding quiet confidence and strength, the Bentley brand embodies a powerful spirit, an innovative mind and a culture of dedication to excellence.

Campbell-Rey is a creative consultancy founded by Duncan Campbell and Charlotte Rey specializing in cultural communication and visual storytelling for lifestyle and heritage brands. Their work spans the worlds of brand development, curation, design and image making, and is united by their sensitive approach and classical, elegant aesthetic.

Massimo Uberti is an Italian light artist based in Milan, Italy, who creates structures that play with the notion of space using outlined geometrical neon configurations. Inspired by a broad range of influences from Arte Povera to classical geometry, his work focuses on reducing structures to their purest and most elemental forms.

  • GUCCI AND SPINELLO PROJECTS PRESENT SMELL THE MAGIC BY KRIS KNIGHT

Tonight I was very fortunate to attend the exclusive preview of Smell The Magic,  a pop-up solo exhibition by Canadian artist Kris Knight hosted by the extraordinary GUCCI Creative director Frida Giannini at Spinello Projects in the Miami Design District.

This private cocktail party was indeed a wonderful kick off for Miami Art Week 2014 and also coincided with the release of Knight’s first published catalog.

Frida Giannini, who referenced Knight’s paintings as inspiration for Gucci’s Fall-Winter 2014 Collection, was joined by Kris Knight and other notable guests from the worlds of design, art and fashion at this private cocktail reception.

Spinello Projects is a Miami-based contemporary art program founded in 2005 by Anthony Spinello. The gallery supports and promotes the work of artists with unorthodox and experimental practices. Its mission: to initiate fundamental changes in Miami’s visual landscape and to present new aesthetic challenges to a broader global viewership.
