The Star Wars Storybook — 1978 The Star Wars Corporation — Random House.
The intergalactic adventures of Luke Skywalker and the Rebel Alliance as they battle the evil Imperial forces which have overthrown the Old Republic.
Before the internet, if you wanted to fuel your passions for a movie you did it with a storybook.
So my friend Tim had the read along Return of the Jedi record/storybook. One afternoon after school we decided to record the entire thing ourselves.
Word for word. Painstakingly, accurately, dutifully we worked. About an hour in we got to the point where Vader threw The Emperor off that bridge.
I felt something was missing.
I added (quite intelligently I thought), “All the evil rose up.”
Tim WAS NOT impressed.
Actually he freaked the hell out. Going as far as to erase our tape.
What can I say? Some people don’t like improv.
