Taking inspiration from the recent Tate Modern exhibition of the works of great abstract artist Sonia Delaunay and combining that with elements from 20’s flappers and 70’s sleek sirens, Henry Holland’s House of Holland AW16 Collection was needed break from the monotony of minimalism.

NYFW FW16 Schedule
nyfw-fw16-schedule-final9
Lots of familiar names on the schedule but several new additions. Let’s hope the fashion critics curb some of their withering reportage and snarkisms cause even at a show that is not the best, there is always some element that is good!
Actually, given the interesting weather lately, it will be interesting to see how the fashionable people survive the NYFW FW16 season. Will they throw common sense literally to the wind, daring to catch pneumonia or worse wearing questionable garments and cruel shoes? I think not, but we shall see…

Where Have I Been – January 2016
If you follow me on Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, Facebook, Pinterest and/or Snapchat (MoneKnows), you know that I’ve been out and about doing and seeing great things since this past December. So, now it’s to start posting about everything here!
I’ll be updating about the rest of my Art Basel – Design Miami – Miami Art Week adventures as well as my Favorite Sites for January and upcoming events and openings that have caught my eye. I will also be taking a look at my favorite shows from the Menswear fashion shows
I’ve also decided to include some of my art projects on this site as well as it makes sense to share that part of my life here where everybody knows my name 🙂
Plus, I am working on something super-super-super special that I have been dying to do for quite some time but have not gotten around to trying until recently: podcasting!
So, keep an eye out for updates!

A Tough Week Turns Sweet Story
I am having a tough week this week because my mom had to have surgery to remove a questionable growth discovered after a follow-up breast MRI last month.
Earlier this year she had a mammogram and subsequently a biopsy of both breasts where they tagged areas of concern. When she did a follow-up breast MRI last month, the results showed that one of the areas tagged had grown enough that it was time to have it removed. That resulted in a whole host of additional doctor appointments and labwork work to get everything in order for the surgery.
Add to that, just prior to the breast MRI, she slipped in the bathroom and twisted her left knee so hard that it resulted in a tear and a small line fracture. She had to have the knee drained but because she is on blood-thinning medication, she cannot take the normal aspirin based medication to reduce the swelling which has hampered her healing as quickly as she could have had she been able to take those type of medications.
With the aid of a walking stick, she has had to struggle with the pain of a messed up knee while going to all these appointments for this procedure.
I, meanwhile, have been juggling coordinating her care, my job and a million other life tasks as best I can. The days are long and there are no breaks!
And yet, there are silver linings in the clouds. My mother’s knee is getting better. Yesterday at work, I got a surprise gift from the VP of our department of a big box of Godiva chocolates. I was so happy and so pleased that I posted a photo about it on my Instagram.
Today was my mom’s surgery. Everything went well and she is resting at home comfortably. In a week we get back the results of the biopsy but the outlook is very positive good because even if there results are not good, the doctor believes we have caught everything very early.
And today, Godiva contacted me on Instagram to let me know they loved my photo and wanted to feature it on the site and social media channels!
So a tough week has indeed turned sweet!

SCOPE Miami Beach 2015 | VH1 + The Breaks
Yup, The Breaks Lounge definitely is on my SCOPE Miami Beach must-see list especially since The Breaks star Mack Wilds will be doing a live DJ set during Tuesday evening’s opening reception in the SCOPE Atrium, hosted by VH1.
As the recent SCOPE Miami Beach update says:
ONCE UPON A RHYME… Hip hop changed culture as we know it, and the early 90s in New York City was one of its most groundbreaking eras. Were celebrating the artists and the music that defined the times and changed the game forever.
Thats why were bringing this innovative era of music to SCOPE Miami Beach to celebrate VH1s new original movie, The Breaks, premiering on Monday, January 4th.
The “Breaks Lounge” will capture the spirit of that time and place with a playlist curated by Q-Tip and rare hip hop memorabilia. Check out original A Tribe Called Quest lyric sheets and rare authentic ’90s hip hop apparel on loan from DJ Ross One, author of Rap Tees: A Collection of Hip-Hop T-Shirts 1980-1999.
Dont just take a selfie, make a GIF in the #PHHHOTO booth, and go home with a customized beat from Monster DNA!

Miami Design District Site-Specific Performance Series

The season finale of Site-Specific Performance Series at the Miami Design District happens this Saturday, November 21st at 5:30pm.
Instituted by Craig Robins in 2014, the roving series brings performance out of the traditional theater and invites guests to explore the neighborhood via ephemeral original works of dance, music, theatre, art, and poetry, which often engage the permanent public art installations in the neighborhood.
The finale event will include four performances featuring artists Paul Tei and Mad Cat Theatre Company, Das SaD, Fernando Calzadilla of Miami Theater Center, and Alma Dance Theater.
Please add this amazing event to your weekend must-see calendar! More details after the jump. (more…)
