Arthur Beatrice released their debut album, Working Out on March 4 via Harvest Records. Consquence of Sound has called them “all consuming” and Under The Radar has labeled their music “gracefully polished pop.”

BLEEDING RAINBOW

On Interrupt, Bleeding Rainbow’s fourth album, in which the band was able to perfectly capture the visceral raw energy of their unrelenting live show.  The Foursome of Sarah Everton, Rob Garcia, Al Creedon and Ashley Arwine have stripped bare the layers that came to represent 2013’s Yeah Right. “We wanted to get back to writing more straight forward songs.”  The result is 35 minutes of straight forward, dressed down, feral noisy punk-pop filled with driving melodies.  Its impact is immediate and unforgiving.

Atlanta’s ruling garage rock daughters are ready to release their 4th full length album on Suicide Squeeze Records and are touring w/ The Black Lips & Audacity this spring.  ‘Suck My Shirt’ is their catchiest yet – jarring, raspy, tough with solid melodic hooks akin to Sleater Kinney, or the art-pop of late-era Minutemen.  Watch their latest video “Follow Me” HERE featuring Mastodon.

THE DISTRICTS

The Districts are a four-piece indie rock band from the small town of Lititz, Pennsylvania. Their mix of jangly indie Americana and blues-inspired rock caught the attention of Mississippi’s Fat Possum Records, which signed the Districts in 2013. In January 2014 Fat Possum issued the band’s self-titled third EP, which contained three remastered songs from their Telephone album along with two newly recorded tracks.

 GHETTO GHOULS

Inside the cinder blocks of legendary venue and bar Beerland, the Ghetto Ghouls have grown into one of the best punk bands in Austin. In an over saturated landscape of 70’s worshipping garage bands, a stripped down Texas punk band like this is most definitely needed. These guys wield the torch of sloppy 80’s noisy punk like The Dicks, Stick Men, Scratch Acid and are releasing their debut LP (recorded in just four hours) April 8th via Monofonus Press and a single this summer on 12XU. LINE & CIRCLE

Line & Circle was born of the collaboration between Brian J. Cohen & Brian Egan – natives of Akron and Dayton, Ohio, respectively – who met in college before moving from the Midwest to Los Angeles. Last spring, along with guitarist Eric Neujahr, drummer Nick Cisik, and bassist Jon Engelhard, they returned to the studio with White Iris’ Lewis Pesacov to begin recording new material developed during the band’s two recent tours. There, with nods to early 4AD dream pop and chiming I.R.S. Records-era guitar rock, the group pared the songs to their essence – simple melodic phrases and hooky ostinatos that subvert the weightier themes of the lyrics.

MOSES SUMNEY

Moses Sumney- From Southern California by way of Ghana, Moses Sumney began performing live a year ago and has garnered attention from not only press but artists like Beck and Solange both of whom he’s performed with. As a solo artist, he uses layered vocal loops and plays electric guitar to create his brand of very unique folk influenced R&B. Out on tour this spring with Local Natives.

Chicagoland garage-punks The Orwells are one of the hottest live acts out there right now with The Washington Post calling their recent show “fantastic”. The band has released two EPs on Canvasback and will be coming out with their highly anticipated new album this summer. The release will include racks produced by Chris Coady (Smith Westerns, Beach House) Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Bombay Bicycle Club) and Dave Sitek (TV on the Radio) this coming summer.

PROMISED LAND SOUND

Promised Land Sound emerged from the fertile Nashville garage scene – members have played with PUJOL, Denney and the Jets, and members of JEFF The Brotherhood and Those Darlins, among others – but have quickly evolved to deploy a more varied, country, soul and pop palette than many of their brethren and sistren. The woodshedding and session-vet vibes are palpable, their sound compellingly unhinged and singularly propulsive.  While the venerable musical traditions of their hometown inform their country-rock sound, their especial alchemy plays fast and loose with reductive genre boundaries.

PUBLIC SERVICE BROADCASTING

Public Service Broadcasting’s debut Inform – Educate – Entertain had its US release in November to much critical acclaim (its UK release was in May and it reached #21 in the UK chart).  Taking in archive material from the BFI and StudioCanal along with classic American public information films the album sees the the band, a duo, seeking to fulfil their mission statement over a wide range of subject matter and styles.  Through both the record and their uniquely spell-binding live audio-visual ‘Transmissions’, audiences will witness the band weave samples from these films around live drums, guitar, banjo and electronics, creating an array of diverse tracks. What emerges is, by turns, thrilling, moving, funny and powerful; or, if you will, informative, educational and – most of all – entertaining.  Of their CMJ shows NPR said, “Ok, this may the best new thing for me at CMJ complete w robot voice, banjo, samples, drums, film and they rock.”

THOSE DARLINS

Those Darlins release Blur The Line was released in October to wide-spread critical acclaim. Giving it 3.5 stars Rolling Stone called it “a seductive bite that goes well with their lupine guitar ooze.” Spin called Blur The Line “smart and seductive” and Blurt gave it 5 out of 5 stars.  The band is well-known for their killer live shows and 2013 saw them tour the US stopping along the way to record sessions for, among others, KEXP, Spin and Oregon Public Broadcasting. Previous to their headlining tour the were hand-picked by Mumford & Sons for inclusion on several of the Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers dates.  This year they will release a live recording of a show The Stone Fox in their hometown of Nashville, TN.

THUS OWLS

Montreal/Stockholm band Thus Owls have signed to Secret City Records and will be releasing their new album, entitled Turning Rocks, on April 8, 2014. Thus Owls are a transatlantic band comprised of husband and wife duo Erika and Simon Angell. The album is both a scrapbook of memories and oral transmissions from an island in Sweden, and a sonic experiment in tone and color recorded in Montreal.

UPSET

For the past few years, Ali Koehler has been best known as the drummer of the pop group Best Coast and the noisy girl punk trio Vivian Girls. After her departure from Best Coast, Koehler decided to step up from behind the kit to front a band of her own, embracing her melodic punk-spirited songwriting impulses with Upset.  Joined by Patty Schemel (of Hole) on drums and Jennifer Prince on lead guitar and vocals, Upset released its massively hooky debut record, She’s Gone, last fall.
