Modernism : Stirred not Shaken

Several years ago, I went to Palm Springs, CA for a conference and was fortunate to have some free time to go and explore my surroundings.

What I found there was cool architecture with cool people in the only place hotter than South Florida where I came from.

Now, there is a cool web series dedicated to Palm Springs mid-century modern design and culture called “Man About Moderism” from Modernism Week with the erudite, stylish Stephen Collins.

Hopefully, next year I will get to go to the fabulous Modernism Week event however until then, check out this “Man About Modernism” episode where we get a tour of Mr. Collins’ gorgeous home.

L’Wren Scott’s designs appealed to the experienced woman of the world who understood that not looking like everyone else was a good thing. Her work graced the famous, the powerful and herself. Whatever “It” is, she had it and then some.

The bright lights of the fashion world just got a little dimmer and I will sorely miss not being able to see L’Wren Scott’s latest collection.

Surf Club Four Seasons Groundbreaking Ceremony

On a gorgeous morning in the historic Peacock Alley this past Friday, the Surf Club Four Seasons Hotel and Residences Groundbreaking Ceremony took place.

Founded in 1930 by Harvey Firestone as a private membership club, the legendary Surf Club will join a growing portfolio of historic and architecturally important Four Seasons hotels. Richard Meier & Partners, in association with KKAID, is the design architect for the project, which is on schedule to be completed in early 2016.
After opening remarks from Bill Thompson of the Surf Club Four Seasons, Nadim Ashi, CEO of Fort Capital and Mayor Daniel Deitch of Surfside, the teams from the Surf Club Four Seasons and Fort Capital along with Mayor Deitch shoveled sand at what is destined to become one of the leading luxury hospitality destinations in the world !
