Mone Knows Loves: Jeffree Star Cosmetics

My name is Mone Knows and I have a serious makeup addiction!!! Although my personal preferred makeup look is “barely there neutral”, I am not a makeup product minimalist – I have two drawers and a sectional storage piece to house my current collection.

However, due to my recent Jeffree Star Cosmetics purchases and planned future acquisitions, I am contemplating converting another desk drawer to add some additional space!

I first became aware of Jeffree Star Cosmetics a couple years back as rave reviews of his first set of Velour Liquid Lipsticks started popping up on my Twitter, Facebook and Instagram feeds. So after seeing makeup vlogger after makeup vlogger sing praises about this brand on YouTube as well as watching Jeffree’s pretty amazing vlogs. earlier this year, I got the deep rich chocolate brown shade, Dominatrix.

My total happiness with this product led me to get another shade and then another and then another! Then when Jeffree announced the launch of his own eyeshadow palette, Beauty Killer and Skin Frost highlighting powders, I knew I would be one of thousands of Jeffree Star Cosmetics lovers scrambling to get  their order in on the launch date.

The three main reasons why I love this brand so much are: quality, cost and value – you get an excellent product, at a great price, at a size that not only equals but exceeds other brands in the market.

Take a look at my opening and swatching Instagram post of the King Tut Skin Frost as well as pic of a side-by-side comparison of it along side another brand’s highlighting powder:

I will admit I felt a little salty that I was not able to get the Beauty Killer Eyeshadow Palette when it initially launched but I am happy to say I was able to get one this weekend when it was restocked.

There will be four new Velour Liquid shades launching in July and the Androgyny Eye Shadow Palette in September, so I’ll be making space for future new additions in my collection!

    Take A Look: 4-3-16

Every week, I come across sites, stories and updates that catch my eye online and usually I just re-tweet, share or repost the link on whatever platform I’m on at the time.

While that’s not bad, I think it’s time to keep better track of them by doing post updates here too!

  • Zaha Hadid Dies At 65

    Zaha Hadid Dies At 65

Even as I type these words, I cannot believe that one of the greatest architects in the world, Zaha Hadid, died today at age 65. It seems impossible that this powerful, talented phenomenon of a person can be stilled.

It is also striking to me that one of my most cherished idols, passed away here in South Florida, in Miami, closer in proximity to where I live than I ever would have thought.  After all don’t giants pass from this world in far off places, like Mount Olympus.

This past December, I was invited to celebrate the launch of REVOLUTION PAVILIONS at Design Miami/a collection of limited edition pre-crafted home and pavilions designed by 30 of the world’s most acclaimed architects and designers introduced by real estate impresario, Robbie Antonio.

One of the two fully constructed pavilions there at the Design Miami/ was Zaha Hadid‘s curved VOLU Dining Pavilion.

A masterful fusion of lightweight engineering and precision fabrication, this pavilion elevated outside dining to an innovative level I have never seen before. As a born and raised New Yorker, who regularly fronts a wary sangfroid, I was awestruck.

For almost an hour I examined it – I walked around it, I sat around it, I took photos of it, I walked in it and finally sat in it.  Simply out, it is a spectacular structure that I love to own much less dine in.

This was just a tiny example of her work. Fortuitously, a much greater example, will be located here in Miami – the One Thousand Museum luxury residential skyscraper. Got fingers crossed that I will be invited to the preview when it opens in 2018 as I would love to take a closer look at this singular mind of genius that has left us foolish mortals behind.

5 Things I Learned from New York Fashion Week FW16

New York Fashion Week FW16 had extra-cold New York winter weather but that was not enough to keep the fashion and celebrity hordes from attending the shows.

This is the one show that all the fashion cognoscenti agreed was outstanding and it makes perfect sense that Lady Gaga would be his special guest on the runway.
